Raiders and Rebels, the Book

A publisher in South Carolina, History Press, that specializes in regional history, found this blog in May 2011 and asked me to write a history book (non-fiction) on the Patriot War.

Unlike this blog, the book does not cover the whole scope of the Patriot War; instead, it concentrates on events connected to the raiders and rebels from New York State and eastern/central Upper Canada (Ontario). That region includes my favorite characters from the conflict, such as Bill Johnston and Daniel Heustis.

I submitted the manuscript October 31, 2011. Within two weeks, I received the manuscript back with minor edits. I reviewed the edits, made changes and sent it back. (A great thing about History Press is that all documents are electronic and travel by email. We are killing no trees.)

On December 2, I sent back the reviewed galley proofs. I was told the book will go to print in early February 2012 and be in retailers' hands by the end of that month. The book became available in February 2012.

The book release coincides with the 175th anniversary of the start of the Patriot War. The title is:
"The Patriot War Along the New York-Canada Border: Raiders and Rebels." You can read more about it at my publishing blog.
